Do you want to upgrade your existing Universal Analytics property to Google Analytics 4 (GA4)? Don’t worry here is a quick 4 steps guide to doing that.

Google Analytics 4 is the latest version. Before this, we use Google Analytics 3. And in that version, our tracking code has a prefix of UA. UA means Universal Analytics.

In this guide, you will learn how to upgrade your existing google analytics 3 property to GA4. But first.

Now, let’s go to our main topic and see how to upgrade the existing GA3 property to GA4.

How to Upgrade to Google Analytics 4

  1. First of all, open google analytics in your browser and click on Admin or the settings icon located at the left bottom corner. As shown in the image below:

2. After clicking on Admin, you will see the settings below in the image. Now, on this page click on GA4 Setup Assistant.

3. After that see the below image. You will see a box and a blue button, I want to create a new Google Analytics 4 property. Just find and click on that Get Started Button.

4. After clicking on the get started button, a pop-up box will open. Just you have to click on Create Property. As shown in the below image.

Now, you have created a GA4 property. Just go and click on See your GA4 Property. As you can see in the image below. And it will take you to your new property.

After clicking that button you will see a new layout and features. And this is GA4.

Congratulations! You have upgraded your existing Google Analytics to Google Analytics 4.

Note: You do not need to update your existing tracking code on your WordPress website. Because that tracking code will work in both Google Analytics versions 3 and 4.
